| To my untrained eye this looks like M.duwei. M.stella-de-tacubaya is described has solitary, 4-5cm across, 3-4cm wide and the central spine being black. M.duwei is larger all round and does clump in culivation, it also has a red / brown spine. The main different will be in the flower. If you can post a picture once they have opened I am sure that will clear up the matter. |

| You could be right Mark. This looks like a duwei form to me and even with unopened flowers I can say that this plant has nothing to do with stella-de-tacubaya. _________________ Chris admin

| hello Sonja, Been on holiday? Yes, now I'm convinced that your plant is a duwei form. It has nothing to do stella-de-tacubaya _________________ Chris admin

| Hello Sonja, I am sure about duwei. I will post a picture this afternoon from the duwei form I have. I know it is a bit complicated with ID, but I will prove that I am right. _________________ Chris admin

| This the duwei MZ 707 from Guanajuato. And to get more confused Sonja: Do you have Mammillaria vergelensis n.n.? If so, put it next to the plant called tacubayensis. You will see a remarquable similarity. _________________ Chris admin

| Hugo, I have a few plants of Mam. vergelensis, and I must admit that there is some similarity. I already changed the label . |
