Does anyone have this specific H8504 clone? It was found by David Hunt a long while ago, and though I know that RBG Kew have some specimens (see below), and I am trying that route, but I thought I'd ask here as well.

Dear Chris,

I have a small plant that was given to me by Wolfgang Plein before he sold his collection. It looks a little elongated because of lack of light in his collection, but the material still exist even though it hasn’t flowered in my collection. I can take some pictures in some days.

Regards Jonathan

That would be good, I didn't know that Wolfgang had a plant of this. I have contacted Kew and they should be sending me some seed from those plants.
Btw, are you still in contact with Wolfgang? I have sent several emails but not a reply. I don't know if I have offended him in some way?

Thajks, that certainly is a rather different form to the ones that were called odieri. Thats for posting.
However, maybe its because its is still relatively young, but it doesn't conform to D. Hunt's description of his aueiceps, namely 25 radials and 4-7 centals, all yellow.

That's very useful, Jonathan. In total there are 35 observations of this form around Mexico City. Is it a bit different from the "odieriana" form, which of course comes from a distance away from Mexico City itself, from east of Regla across into Veracruz?

I had no idea it had been found in so many places, as where Hunt found it has now been built over and he considered it to be extinct. Clearly not!

So I need to go back to Ehrenberg and his discovery and naming of a Mammillaria aurispina in the 19th century.

Thanks again!
