| Hi everybody ! Another trip for me was El Huizache, in the mexican state of San Luis Potosi. I saw there some pretty amazing landscapes, and plants, even if i missed the best part of the flowers. Anyway i saw this tiny little Mammillaria that i couldn't named ... Any ideas ? Well, to make you enjoy more, i also saw this early flowering specimen of Thelocactus bicolor (sorry, not a Mammi ...) Have a nice day/night ! |

| It is a form of Mammillaria heyderi, I think. Here's a photo of a plant which I think is the same, with seed, from near Huizache Junction. I have sown some of the seed from this specific plant, so I will have an enduring memory - hopefully! _________________ Chris43, moderator

| I agree with Chris that the plant of Damian is a form of M. heyderi. I found similar plants in a flat area several km east of Huizache. Others (e.g. Steven Brack) have labelled this heyderi-form as M. roseoalba, but I do not agree with that ID. In my opinion, the plant which Chris shows, is M. formosa. It can be found near the microondas hill at Huizache. Reppenhagen describes plants from this region as M.leucocentra (Repp 1049).

| Hi Wolter, You might well be right about M. formosa for the plant I posted. Why? Because I posted the wrong one...Grrr....too many photos not yet properly sorted. Thanks any for the correction, I'll try not to be so hasty in future. _________________ Chris43, moderator
