Now that January is nearly over I thought I would list all the mamm's in flower during the month.
I have been keeping flowering records since July 2008 has part of a UK Mamm Society project to record and compare flowering times in the UK. Most of the plants that did flower belonged to the Lasiacanthae and inculuded...
lauii lauii, lauii dasyacantha, lauii x carmenae, lasiacantha SB 255 and SB 414, egregia, magallanii, humboldtii and aureilanata.
Other Mamm's in flower....schieliana (picta), viereckii SB 558 (picta), moelleriana Lau 964, rayonensis CSD 167 (pilispina), zactecasensis SB 342 (jaslicana) and jaslicana SB 1948

Wow, Mark, your plants are awake early! Mine are still deep in their winter slumber, and show no sign of waking yet. Mind you the temperatures haven't gone about 12C yet, and that not for very long. Mostly they are keeping around the 5C to 9C mark, so I am not expecting much.
Have they had any water yet? You must have good light also I suspect.

My plants have be flowering right throught the winter and there are many more showing sights of flowering with their buds just starting to poke throught. We have very good light up here on the west coast of Scotland and the temperature always seems warm. We never have the frosts that the mainland gets and if we do it never stays for long. Also my glasshouse is kept warmer simply because I am not paying the heating bill.
I water the main collection once a month and then they will get a light spray with the mist gun once a week, on Sunday. The seedlings on the other hand are given a light watering every other week. It seems (to me) that they will keep growing for the first few years before settling into their normal cycle of growth.
Unfortuneatly I am only able to get up to the glasshouse once a week and then only first thing in the mornning so I am not able to take any photo's because the flowers aren't open at the time.
