Yes..mit may be. It looks similar and was one of my suspections. Flowers should be bigger? Central spines should be shorter? Is this the variation of the species? M. rubrograndis is not an option? What do you think? Thank you very much

Hi! Consider melanocentra ssp. rubrograndis. The mamillae are faceted and rhomboidal at the base. On your plant, the mamillae are cone-shaped.
The radial prickles are confined to the body, in your photo. On rudrograndis they are more powerful and stick outwards. And very sharp.
The flowers of rubrograndis are really quite large, with a short flower tube. The angle of your picture does not allow you to compare this.
With rubrograndis the flowers appear closer to the point of growth. Your picture shows them somewhere in the middle of the body.
Rubrograndias are large mammillaria and start flowering at a size of more than 7-8 cm. Your plant, I think, can probably be considered a miniature.
I don't think rubrograndis is a very good option.

Hi PPV, many thanks for your explanation. Very complete and clear. So we are leaning towards dodsonii although it does not fit perfectly. Maybe wait one more year to see how it develops?
On the other hand, your description of M. melanocentra ssp rubrograndis seems to fit exactly in another plant I have and that is not identified until the moment. Pictures below. Thank you very much!

Hi. Here I found something quite similar. Mammillaria melanocentra ssp. rubrograndis. Perhaps your copy will bear fruit. I think they should be greenish at first and then turn a dirty crimson. I hope all the signs are correct and I'm not imagining things. PVV1962

Flower and plant do not really conform to dodsonii or rubrograndis. Questions: What is the size of the plant, what is the size of the flower (in cm)? Can you post a photo of the flower from the side, so that the flower tube is visible? Where did you get this plant from? Maybe, the previous owner has more info.
Without knowing the origin of this plant, you can never be certain of the name.
Wolter.

Hi Wolter, thanks for the comment. The plants are not flowering now. Next time I'll remember to take measurements and a side-view picture. Thank you
