Hello-

I received this plant labeled as M. R0831 Tlayecac, but I find no reference anywhere on it.

Thanks for the assistance!

Best regards, Lisa

It is Mammillaria multiseta Rep 831. This species was named a long time ago, ad without clear typification. Some collectors believe they have rediscovered it and it is a good species. Others believe it is just a form of M. karwinskiana. It is close to this species certainly, but I believe that it offsets rather than divides dichotomously. I suspect that is not enough to justify a species name of it sown.

Hello Chris-

Thank you so much... so happy to figure this one out. I didn't trust the plant source number of R0831 as anything credible. Ralph Martin's Field number number database shows R831 as an Echinopsis.

The plant doesn't look very much like a karwinskiana; lacking the hairs that most have. But, I suppose there is variation in any species. This plant is an older plant, and in a 11 cm pot.

Thanks again.... changing the label!

Best regards, Lisa
