Hi, I'll be grateful for you help with identification. These are market buys and had no labels.

I'm pretty sure it's Mammillaria backebergiana / ernestii?

Now I have no idea about the following one:
Identification request 28bzf43

Thanks a lot in advance

First one is a backebergiana/ernestii and second one is not a mammillaria! Maybe (just maybe) is a very young Ferocactus glauscens...

Thanks a lot mmartic, I think you're right, I've just checked some Ferocactus photos, and it's really similar to the first on top:

It is a bit young to make a definite identification. It looks like a seedling that I have of M. evermanniana, but I wouldn't like to say it really was this.

Thanks Chris, yes it looks like M. evermanniana, but you're right, we'll make sure when it grows. I'll ask again in some time Smile Thanks.

Hi, this Mammillaria is still a mystery Smile I think it can't be evermanniana - it was blooming a few weeks ago (ufortunately I don't have a photo), but it was a crown of red flowers (something like backebergiana). One more feature that may help - it's spines are pure white.

Thanks for your guesses and help.

Hi,
I have to admit failure in identifying this plant. Now that I know it has flowers like backebergiana, I wondered if that might not be the right name. However, your plant has very definite wool in the axils, which backebergiana according to the description, and from examination of my plants, does not have either in the species or in ssp. ernestii.
Sorry,
Chris

Thank you Chris, I'm sure sooner or later we'll name this baby. I have two backebergianas of similar size in my collection but their spines are more yellow/brown. When it blooms again, I'll take a photo and post it but I'm not sure if it's willing to bloom again this season. I'll update if I have any new guesses or pictures. Thanks.

Lukasz
