Please help me identify this Mammillaria .

I think that this is one of those cultivars which have arisen from a "sport" in a nursery somewhere. I think that the original species might be M. polythele. There are a few of these around, but I am afraid that I steer clear of them, as I do with most cristate forms as well. That's just my own preference, and know that many people do like them.

If you search under 'Identification' and then under 'Mystery cactus' you will find some info (August 2013). It was discussed before that as well but it may be difficult to find because I do not think that the search option of this forum allows for searching in the text of messages.
