Body;- Clustering; tubercles four sided but not sharply angled, fairly large and loosely set. Axils with persistent wool but no bristles.
Areoles more woolly at first.
Spines:- Radial spines 7, strong and needle-like, radiating, light coloured. Central spines 1, mostly shorter than the radials and less strong,straight and porrect, All the spines are set more nearly upright around the apex and are reddish brown.
Flowers:-Rather cup shaped with the petals set upright, 2.3 cm. long. Outer perianth segments usually somewhat serrated and having a reddish-brown mid-stripe. The inner perianth segments are cream coloured to reddish-white and have a weak reddish mid-stripe. Stigma lobes pale green.
Fruit: - Smaller than on M._tesopacensis (from which it differs by having 10-15 radial spines). ... .
