Mammillaria durangicola - type locality Cuencame, Durango, Mexico, Repp. 545.
Body: Simple, globose, 40-80mm high x 50-80mm wide.
Tubercles: Pyramidal, 10-13mm high x 10-11 mm wide, bluish green, with milky sap.
Axils: Naked.
Central spines: 1-3, 10-17mm long, stronger than the radials, upper longer, straight, smooth, black.
Radial spines: 10-16,4-15mm long, fine acicular to bristle like, lower longest, straight, smooth, white to brown to black.
Flowers: Funnelform, 25-30mm long and wide, white margins with a pale brown stripe.
Fruit: 18-20mm long x 5-8mm wide, carmine.
Seeds: Brown.
Reppenhagen compares this species with M. pachycylindrica, the new species having fewer radial and central spines.
