Two years ago I received this plant labeLled Mammillaria maycobensis ROG 738 from a famous German nursery.
Surprisingly the bloom appeared in a color that is unfamiliar to M. maycobensis.
I wonder....is this the real Mammillaria maycobensis ROG 738 ??

Rogozinski and Plein described M. maycobensis as a new species in the German Mammillaria journal in 2009. Flowers were stated as being dark pink. The photo of a flowering Rog 738 in that article shows dark pink flowers. Photos of other maycobensis in the article also show dark pink flowers (Rog 702, PN 403, PN 465 and two maycobensis of others). Therefore, it looks like your plant is not maycobensis.

70 -100 km south of Maycoba Rogozinski has found several populations of M. canelensis. These were Rog 650 - 654. Rog 650, 651 and 653 had yellow flowers, Rog 652 had red, yellow and pink-yellow flowers, and Rog 654 had red flowers.
Also for M. cobrensis there exist yellow and red flowering populations. In theory, this could also be the case for M. maycobensis.......

Wolter.

Thank you Wolter for your attention.
I recognize the handwriting on the label as frequent in K.W. (cactus and suculents in Koln) and in some photographs from the collection of "mammillariamaniac".
I can think it's the handwriting of whoever grew the plant I bought from Ingo Breuer's "edengarden".

The label was written by Helmut Rogozinski himself, it is exactly his handwriting. Only the text 1B25878 was written by someone else.
I have a few plants with labels from Rogo, and he always writes in the same way.

Wolter.

I have no reason to think that the label was mistakenly moved to a different floor plan.
Yellow-flowered M. maycobensis then, awaiting any denials.
Grazie Wolter.

In John Pilbeam's Mammillaria Now and Again these plants above, are linked to m. standleyi, along with six other new named species. All either with yellow or red flowers in many cases.
