| Mammillaria amoena This name keeps cropping up in catalogue listings, but the resulting plants usually equate either to Mammillaria discolor or Mammillaria wiesingeri. The identity of the species originally described is almost impossible to determine, and Hunt recommends that it should be discarded - for the record the original description called for a subcolumnar plant, with two tawny yellow central spines, the upper longer and curved upwards, 16 to 20 radial spines, and reddish flowers - no type locality was recorded "Mammillaria" by John Pilbeam - pag.318 Mammillaria amoena From "Cactoo" - Vaprio d'Agogna - Novara
