The Reppenhagen Mammillaria Species by R.E. Standley
Mammillaria arroyensis n. prov. - type locality Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Repp. 1054.
I do not know whether this species has been validly publishedby Reppenhagen.
Uhlig offered seed of this species as M. sp. nov. Dr. Arroyo, and plants obtained from this seed sown in 1981 have the following description:
Body simple, globose, 50mm high and wide; tubercles 4 sided, 5mm long and wide; axils with white wool and a few bristles.
Central spines 4-6, 4-5mm long, straight, white shading to brown at the tip; radial spines 16-20, 2-5mm
long, white. Flowers 17mm wide, inner petals white with a faint narrow pink stripe, stigma lobes pink. Fruit not yet seen.
I believe that Reppenhagen originally thought this plant to be close to M. formosa but later gave it the provisional name of
M. arroyensis n.prov
