Here is my old Mamm pectinifera one of a pair I grew from seed sown in 1978. The plants are now approx 6 inches (150mm) tall. One now looks to be showing signs of dividing dichotomously, which I believe is unusual for this species.

Yes, Phil, dichotomous growth is unusual in this species. However, I have been told that almost any plant can divide dichotomously, although some have the tendency to always do so, and others not.

Interesting you say that Chris. I have a Turbinicarpus valdezianus that has divided dichotomously, again unusual!
