This plant is one that came from Hugo. It is named as elongata v. echinaria Bella Vista del Río, 1895 m, Qro. I thought nothing more of it until it flowered this week. As you can see it has a most unusual flower colour for this species. I have requested more details to see if it si consistent with the original discovery, but anyway it is quite pretty in pale pink!

This same plant can be found on the Rogzinski field under Rog 565 with the comment Rose flowers so It would seem that it has been found in habitat with rose / pale red flowers.
This is nothing new. The more we look at plants in habitat the more we are finding that the plants that we thought had Red flowers have yellow has well and vis-a-vis.

Thanks for the Rog reference. I'm reassured as I did wonder if somehow it was an acccidental hybrid.
Interesting how much things do vary from the origial descriptions. I wonder when these get updated, and by whom. I suppose publication in a Journal is the way to do it.
