| M.gigantea normally has yellowish - green flowers. Lau made the L 1118 from Huejuquilla - San Jaun Capistrano, a plant with pink flowers. Hunt refered this collection to M.gigantea which Lau disagreeded with. Lau later made the collection L 1529, M.wagneriana from San Juan Capistrano. I believe that L 1118 and your plant above is M.wagneriana. Lau 1118, a plant given to me last year by Robby. It recently flowered but I did not have my camera at the time ] M.wagneriana L 1529. |

| Here is my plant that is labelled as Lau 1118, and to me as well it is closer to wagneriana than gigantea. One of the characteristics of wagneriana is the curling upper central spine, I believe. Having seen a number of plants of the pettersonii, wagneriana and heyderi affinities in habitat, I think it can sometimes be very difficult to separate them. Unfortunately I didn't go to gigantea land, which would perhaps have been useful to add to the confusion! _________________ Chris43, moderator
