| I do like the lasiacantha plants, look good, pretty with flowers, and take little space. Good spination on your plant! _________________ Chris43, moderator

| M. schrottii is a so-called n.n. (nomen nudum), a name never officially published. This taxon is probably very much related to my WTH 621 M. lasiacantha aff. (see attached photo) which grows more or less halfway between Saltillo and Zacatecas, i.e. quite far south of the lasiacantha region. M. schrottii n.n. is supposed to come from the same general area. The fruits are quite far embedded in the plant body (FitzMaurice had never seen a lasiacantha with fruits so far embedded). The spination is almost a little pectinate. Wolter. | |

| I scanned a slide of M. lasiacantha from Cerro Bola. The taxon that grows here (WTH 432) has a very nice, appressed spination. See the photo. Piltz lists M. denudata P 295 from Cerro Bola and his P295 also has that nice spination. Therefore, denudata P 295 and lasiacantha WTH 432 will be identical. Both look very similar to Maurillio's denudata. Wolter. | |
