| In flower today M.magallanii SB 143 from Cerro Bola, Coahuila.  On this plant this is as far has the flowers open. I have seen other plants of this field number where the flowers extend beyond the spines. | |

| Yes you are quite right it should be M.lasiacanth subsp magallanii. I was using Pilbeam's book to check the spelling. In the book he mantained M.magallanii has a species based on its 'quite different solitary, columnar habit'. Hunt places it has a subspeices of lasiacanta althought this could change has the Fizt-Maurice's are working on the classification of series Lasiacanthae at the momment. | |
