A little lyrical digression.

Before Christmas I bought some mammillaries.
For a long time I had been looking at some of the plants on the supplier's website. But something was stopping me from buying them. Some items were left for later, until I found out. Five years flew by like a day.
And again these mammillaria come to my attention.
I negotiate the purchase. All is well - I'm happy!
But afterwards I start to realise that it's not an obscura (I mean Wagneriana.)

And the best part - I got them with the same tag as the photo from 5 years ago.
Making the assumption that the mix-up happened earlier. At the time of sowing or at the original seed supplier.

I was kindly provided with the seed lists. Especially as the supplier no longer sows mammillaria.
At first I thought it was Columbiana. But...
Subsequently, I came across a photo of Durispina.
The name was on the sowing list, but the supplier's catalogue photo matched the name.
The next one was a polythele FO 59.
Revisiting old photos from the catalogue further on.

I have a suspicion that there are people more disciplined than me. And they're OK.
At this stage of cactus collecting, I still want to change the soil and add more water.
How about taking a chance after all?

Nice sequence of young plants! Now that the days here in the UK are getting longer, my thoughts are going to the task of repotting. I have a fair number of seedlings as well as perhaps a few hundred larger plants in desperate need of more root space.
However, as I keep my greenhouse between 4 & 5C, I'd have to use very dry compost so I'll wait a bit longer until daytime reaches a sensible temperature!

Yes, Mr. Davies. I suspect things will go back to the way they were. And in the not too distant future, we all have summer worries ahead of us.
And you're right, we should wait for a more comfortable temperature. Good luck with your hard work.

I once purchased Duwei. Then its growth point rotted away. After treatment, a viable stump was left which gave rise to multi-headed shoots.
Interestingly, the original plant had central thorns on it. The offshoots did not produce such thorns. I don't think the amount of sunshine will make any difference.
