This specimen was identified like Mammillaria matudae var. serpentiformis. But I think it's wrong. It's from the Alcala de Henares Botanic Garden in Madrid.

It's certainly not M. matudae (or var. serpentiformis). Most likely ID seems to me M. elegans (schmollii/meissneri).

Sorry, but I don't understand well your answer. What species are you referring with 'M. elegans (schmollii/meissneri)'. Seaching in the gallery I've found some pictures of M. meissneri similar to my specimen (and others not so similar), but I haven't got anything under 'schmollii', and under 'elegans I've found some pictures but more different than those of M. meissneri.

There's a fair number of names for what I would call M. haageana ssp. schmollii, others would use some of the names Wolter has written above, and some would simply say its a clumping form of M. haageana.
