| It is getting hot now in the greenhouse, door and windows are open and the fans are running The first two plants I have bought last year from an former AfM-Member from southern Germany. Mammillaria priessnitzii Rog 109 - MEX-70, km 177, direction Rio Verde, SLP. Mammillaria mollendorffiana K 253 - HGO-27, Cardonal - Nicolás Flores, s. Seminario, Hgo. This plant comes from André van Zuijlen, bought 2015 at the ELK in Blankenberge. Mammillaria formosa ( sempervivi) AvZ 249 - La Cardona Zac. A dichotomously dividing M. perbella (morganiana), just one flower.. bought last year at the ELK from Dubenkaktus (CZ) This nicely spined M. compressa was a discovery at Andreae Kakteenkulturen in the Odenwald, Hessen. Mammillaria compressa - San Francisco. SLP. And the last one a M. theresae Rog 235 from the Rogozinski collection.

| The new plants look in good shape. I would label the André van Zuijlen plant as M. formosa. The location La Cardona would also fit with that. The M. morganiana looks very short-spined. The plants that I saw in nature have longer spines. I consider M. morganiana as a form of M. parkinsonii.

| The plants of M. parkinsonii and M. morganiana have pale, yellowish flowers with a reddish centre stripe. This looks an unusual colour for either of suggested species, but maybe I haven't seen enough to understand the variabilility of their flowers? _________________ Chris43, moderator

| Chris, I fully agree with you that the flower colour doesn't fit for M. morganiana. However, Reppenhagen does state in his book: Blüten gelblich bis rosa (flowers yellowish to pink). The M. morganianas that I saw near Bucareli always had yellowish flowers. Was there a location or a field number attached to that Duben-plant? That might help in identifying it.

| Thank you Wolter! I've corrected that. I am still dreaming of seeing Mamms in Habitat, but I have to be patient maybe in some years.. Yes, that is what I have rode about the flowers, too. No filed number or location and I have looked on their website for some information.. Do you think it is maybe a M. albata? | |

| My thoughts went to M. klissingiana, but M. albata could also be a possibility. However, klissingiana and albata do not divide dichotomously, as far as I know. Another possibility could be M. perbella, which does divide dichotomously. It is a pity that there is no location or field number given for the plant, that would certainly have helpecd in identifying it.

| Yes, this Puerto Madero plant is M. formosa. I found M. formosa there too, and I gave it the field number WTH 622.
