A plant that I bought fromJohn Pilbeam, in flower yesterday. It doesn't have the purplish pink flower called for in the description, so it might not be the right name. The spines also are clearly yellow tipped darker, not the chalky white colour as described. Does anyone recognise this plant as being right - or another suggestion?

Not a compressa, Chris, As you say the flowers and spines are not right. This could be a normal magnimamma.
Even with a fieldnr, you are not sure of correct named plants these days.
