| As ever, your plants are well ahead of mine, must be the light But I can see buds, so if we get some nice days, maybe it won't be too long. _________________ Chris43, moderator

| Yes, the intensity is a lot different - but so is duration. Your days are a lot shorter than ours and the sun is also lower in the sky during winter. I am starting to believe that some plants don't really "hibernate" in my lattitude, they just slow down their processes and when the time comes pick up really fast. | |

| Here are some photos of M. weingartiana in habitat. They are almost impossible to find when not in flower, you have to crawl on your knees and if you are very lucky, you will find one or two plants. Last year, for the first time, I saw them in flower, and then you realize that there are not many, but still quite a few of them around. The photos were taken with a Canon 100 mm macro lens. An interesting feature of M. weingartiana is that the flowers have a perfume-like smell. My own seed-grown plants are in bud at the moment. Wolter ten Hoeve. | |

| Wow! That's amazing, it is sheer luck to find such a plant if you don't know where (and when) to look for it. There must hundreds of species still to be discovered! Thank you for sharing, Wolter. I will try to smell the flowers. | |
