A bit precocious, perhaps...?

Mammillaria hernandezii, sown April 2011 from Succseed.

That's great growth in just 18 months! And so nice to se ethe flower buds forming already, hope they do flower before too long. You have the warmth to help this sort of plant along, its been so dull and cool of late that I hold little hope out here.

...and here they are, in all their possible glory. Gloomy days are gloomy days everywhere, and sunny Portugal is, unfortunately, no exception.

Same batch, same source: Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae, individual heads approximately 1cm in diameter.

What fantastic flowers.
We are still languishing in yet more snow and bitter cold in the Northwest of England.

What kind of medium are you using?
Also, do you use a heating pad or propagator?

My medium is mostly a type of volcanic ash, denser than pumice (about the same density as water). What you see in the pots is the top dressing I use to ward off algae and mosses.
Lisbon is a very nice place to live in, no need for any extra warmth. We are currently living the coldest spell of this winter, with minima around 5C (positive). That's pretty standard Lisbon weather.
