Always believed that this is mammillaria elongata, however is it ?

That is elongtata as well. The form you showed first is often referred to as v. echinaria, which differs mainly because of the central spines. But I don;t think it is regarded as separate now, just that elongata is a very variable species, in spine length and colour.
