| Hi Maurillio, It looks to me much more like M. blossfeldiana to my eye than M. fraileana, especially since the stigmas are yellow not purple, and the striped flowers. _________________ Chris43, moderator

| Well, to be honest I think this is either a hybrid or simply wrong!
It has ALL the characteristics of M. blossfeldiana, I believe. I do not accept that the only difference is the stigma colour. The plant body and spine colour has that black and yellow look of M. blossfeldiana; the flowers are those of M. blossfeldiana. The bud form is that of M. blossfeldiana.
It is M. blossfeldiana.
So why do Cactus Art show it as something else. They say that it is only known from cultivation, so not a naturally occurring form, as far as is known. The possibilities are that it is a hybrid, or that some seed got mixed, and these seedlings came up in a batch of M. faileana seedlings.
Not a sport, but a mistake. _________________ Chris43, moderator

| I should have one, but its a bit dark just now! I'll see if its still there in the morning. My notes say I grew it from seed sown in 2005, seed from the Mammillaria Society and almost certainlt that came from Steven Brack. _________________ Chris43, moderator

| OK then, here is a not magnificent photo of my Mammillaria fraileana SB1263. It looks nothing like the "yellow" plant at all. It flowered this year, with very typical fraileana flowers. _________________ Chris43, moderator
