Hey all,
Again, here's another I thought I had received an ID from you guys, but can't find the post or the tag.
This small plant was part of a trade and was not in the best of shape. The person that sent it said they got it but didn't like it and asked if I'd want it. It's been getting full sun for over a year now and as you can see, it flowered (last year) but I didn't get pics Sad
Some of the spines are bent and it appears the newer spines show three centrals (?) the lower one hooked and two (above) straight. I could be wrong though.

What do you think? Anyone recognize it? I can try to get better pics on my next trip home.

Good evening.
Maybe Mammillaria zeilmanniana (?).
This may be suitable for radial spines: "radial spines 15 to 18, finely bristly, white, pubescent"
But the number of central spines does not seem to work:
"Central spines 4 , the upper 3 straight, the lowest hookeed, slightly longer than the radial reddish brown".
(Descriptions taken from The Cactus File Handbook : " Mammillaria" By Mr John Pilbeam).
Good research

Thanks... Well, It is a small plant... It's only in a 2" pot. Maybe the third straight central will develop as it grows? As you can see, the lower tubercles have one central that is hooked, older tubercles have one straight and one hooked central and the top tubercles have 2 straight and one hooked. Maybe this years growth will have three straight centrals and one hooked???

Someone on another forum suggested Mammillaria tepexicensis FO177, but it has three hooked centrals... I think... at least the pics I've found do. They also look darker.

Hi.
I found the description of Mammillaria tepexicensis : " ..radial spines 27 to 30, 5 to 6mm long, straight or little curved. Central spines, 4 (or up to eight), all hooked, red-brown, yellow at base."
Description from the same book "Mammillaria" by John Pilbeam.
Once again ... Good research and ...good night.

Ok... so Pilbeam states centrals are "All Hooked"... so that rules out M. tepexicensis for mine. Thanks! I really need to get Pilbeams book!
