No. 1. Mammillaria subtilis

Body: Simple, dwarfish, with watery sap, axils with curled bristles.
Tubercles about 3 mm. long, conical.
Spines: Radials white, about thirty in number, curled and hair-like.
Centrals, six or seven, white, yellowish at base, one or two at the top zone brownish or reddish, about 10 - 12 mm. in length, nearly bristly.
Flowers: Funnelform, white, about 10 mm. long.
Fruit: Unknown.
Type Locality: Eighty kilometres north of San Luis Potosi, S.L.P., Mexico. Crows in half shade in crevices containing good leafy alluvial soil.
