Stem simple or branching from the base, shortly cylindric;
Tubercles cylindric, with watery sap; axils with 5-8 hair-like white bristles.
Central spines at first 4, later 5-7, acicular, reddish brown, the lowermost porrect, to 15mm. long, hooked.
Radial spines about 20-25, very fine, white, glabrous, horizontally spreading.
Flowers yellow, about 15mm. in diameter.
Fruit clavate, red; seeds reddish brown, pitted.
MEXICO: (San Luis Potosi), Sierra de San Luis Potosi, collected by E. Georgi and sent to Boedeker.
Type not known to have been preserved.
