Mammillaria kunzeana
A plant of unknown origins, popularly in cultivation under this name, is a variation of this subspecies with dark reddish central spines and unusual and attractively coloured, greenish-yellow flowers.
When i saw it in Mexico, in Manuel Rivas's collection in Tequisquiapan, Queretaro, i excitedly enquired where ha had found it.
To my chagrin he said it had been sent to him by a Mammillaria enthusiast in Europe or the USA.
