Mammillaria droegeana Hildmann ex Reppenhagen
This plant has always been of a dubious nature and plants seen in collections have been a clustering form of M.microhelia
Werdermann. Reppenhagen has proposed a neotype Repp.1819 which he found at El Trigo, Queretaro. The plants appear to be very
similar if not identical to the pink flowering form of M.microhelia/microheliopsis Werdermann. I believe the original location of M.microhelia has been rediscovered and it would appear to be essential to find out the variability of that species in the wild before accepting M.droegeana. After all, the material in circulation is likely to have undergone modification and no new material has been available for several decades
