| M. cerralboa (Britton & Rose) Orcutt, Cactography 7. 1926 Neomammlliaria cerralboa (Britton & Rose, The Cactaceae 4: 116, fig. 121a, 1923. Stem solitary, cylindric; tubercles not milky. Spines all alike, about 11, usually one more central, the longer ones nearly 2cm. long. Flowers small, 1cm. long or less. Fruit and seed not described. Mexico; Baja California, Cerralbo Island (isla Ceralvo), 6-7 June 1921, I.M. Johnston 4O38 (US, type), 4053 (US), (two with hooked spines); Cerralbo Island, 1911, J.N. Rose 16877 (US), (hooked spines). It is to be hoped that our Californian members may have the opportunity to re-collect this species, which was listed among the "little known" species by Craig. Like other species of Baja California with watery sap and straight spines (M. albicans, M. neopalmeri) its affinities are at present obscure, unless it could be one of the Ancistracanthae in which both straight and hooked spine forms occur. M. cerralboa does not seem to be related to M. evermanniana, of which the type locality is also Cerralbo Island. The Journal of the Mammillaria Society Vol.8 n.5 - October 1968 Mammillaria cerralboa From "Ento" Ennio Toso collection - Savona Mammillaria cerralboa Mammillaria cerralboa From Antonio Gandolfo collection - Vicenza
