Mammillaria bonavitii - type locality Cerro Gordo, near Tehuacan, Puebla, Mexico, Repp. 907.
Body: Solitary, globose, 45-80mm high and wide.
Tubercles: Conic, 12-14mm long x 7-8mm wide, yellow green, with watery sap.
Axils: With a little white wool. Central spines: 4-7, 7-18mm long, straight, pale brown to red brown to greyish lilac.
Radial spines: 15-18, 4-7mm long, bristle-like, smooth, straight, white. Flowers: 16-18mm long x 12-15mm wide, carmine.
Fruit and Seed not described.
Reppenhagen compares this species with M. rhodantha.
