I am now on my 2nd batch of seed sowing. The 1st batch was sown on the 1-3-10 and this 2nd batch was sown 1-4-10. So far, out of the 100 lots, there has been germination in 83 of the lots. Nearly all the seed is from the German Mammillaria Society with a few items from Jara Dohanlik.
The compost mix is 1/3 soil based compost, 1/3 sharp washed sand and 1/3 fine vermiculite, mixed and sieved. Pots are kept in the heated propator for a month and then stood on the bench for the rest of the year.
