NEW mammillaria?

A new Mammillaria found near Arroyo del Caballo, Durango.

ist das wirklich eine neue Mammillaria oder nicht einfach nur eine M. pennispinosa?

It looks very much like pennisposa and was found around 15-20 km away from the habitat of pennispinosa. Brachytrichion grows also only 30 km away. The plant shown on the picture is very young and only 1,5 cm in diameter, so it is hard to tell. I'll post a picture within a year or so, to see if there are changes in growth and if it will flower.

M. brachytrichion ist eine sehr nahe Verwandte. Zur Zeit mache ich Bestäubungsversuche zwischen M. nazasensis, M. pennispinosa und M. mercadensis. Mal sehen was dabei heraus kommt. Ich werde mich melden, wenn es funktioniert hat.
