Mammillaria schrottii n.nud.

Hello,
I am engaged in the etymology of some species of the genus Mammillaria. Nowhere can I find the author of the invalid description of Mammillaria schrottii, the currently validly described species Mammillaria hermosana. Can someone give me information about who the author of the name M. schrottii was and when this name first appeared? Thanks in advance for the message!

I'm afraid that I am unable to help you with this. I was unaware of M. hermosana until about a year before it was described. It was only then that I understood that it had been circulating in Germany under the name of M. schrottii. I think it probably was a nomen nudum, and not properly described. But that's only my supposition! I'd never seen it on any seed lists I used, mainly from the Czech Republic, but also a few from Germany.

It was indeed a nomen nudum, i.e. M. schrottii n.n.
