Hi from Suffolk. I have been growing cacti and succulents off and on since I was 14 (I am now 54) but have only had room for the last 15 years.Very Happy . I have renewed my interest in Mamms this last year. I like the columnar ones, Corythantha, Thelocatus and Turbinicarpus. Trying to grow some from BCSS and Mamm Soc seed but I am buying what I can this year.  The Forum has great photos of cacti in flower. I would be interested to know what people use for red spider mite.

Welcome Gary.
I too will be interested if you get many responses about spider mite control.
I, like most people, get occasional outbreaks, and have used Neem oil, emulsified in washing up liquid, as a spray. This does seem to sort it, but though Neem oil is imported here, it hasn't formal approval for use as a pesticide. That gave rise a few years ago to rumours that it was on the "to be banned" list in the EU. But it seems that it can't (shouldn't) be sold as a pesticide without the appropriate licenses. Other than that, I don't think there is a specific acaricide on the UK markets, though some Provado sprays suggest that they control red spider. Not the concentrate so it gets expensive if you had a large collection to spray regularly.

Good morning Gary and welcome!

I use Milben-Ex Kiron by Dr. Stähler.
The active substance is Fenpyroximate. I do not have spider mites for years.
To new plants I sometimes notice symptoms of spider mites. After use of the agent, the plants grow normally.
I inject in the spring, before the first watering. Then again in August or September.
Very important; the agent is not Dangerous to bees.

Best wishes

PS However, it is also so, I use to pour a shower rod. The do not like the spider mites.
