This looks like a form of Mammillaria mystax to me, maybe Mammillaria casoi? Check it in the Photo Galleries of Mammillarias A to Z on this Forum. But they can be quite variable in spine length, and number. What links it to M. mystax in my opinion are the pink flowers, the axillary bristles and the shape of the tubercles.

Yes, I think it is sheldoni. Never noticed the scent, will have to go and sniff mine as some are in flower now.

I'd suggest Mammillaria lauii?

Thanks for the quick reply. Similar. But I have a lot of doubts.
This may be a hybrid?

It is possible, as there are many hybrids between M. laui and M. carmenae. The spination looks more laui like on your plant, camrenae hybrids tend to have the spines fanning outwards. The flowers are a bit large for lauii proper, and not quite deep pink enough.

I did also consider forms of M. glassii, but I cannot see any sign of a hooked central spine.

The last plant could also be M. laui fa. dasyacantha, which has smaller heads than fa. laui.

On the scent of Mammillaria flowers: today I noticed a perfume-like smell when entering my greenhouse. It appeared that the flowers of M. yaquensis produced this smell, other Ancistracanthae did not have this smell, except for a weak perfume on M. blossfeldiana.
In the past I have noticed a perfume-like smell on the Dolichotheles and on M. weingartiana.
Do others know of other nice-smelling Mammillarias?

Wolter ten Hoeve.

Hi chemist,

I would suggest m. rekoi. Although the flower is somewhat pinker than I'm used to seeing.

Hi woltertenhoeve,

I have notice later in the year when m. plumosa is in flower, there is a scent of citrus in the g/house.
Also one or two escobarias also have quite a strong scent.

My suggestion for the name of the last plant is a form of M. zeilmanniana, possibly a hybrid. M. rekoi seems unlikely to me, because M. rekoi has bell-shaped flowers which do not open as widely as the ones of your plant. M. zeilmanniana has the kind of flowers as in your picture.
