Some old mammillaria's Empty
PostSubject: Some old mammillaria's   Some old mammillaria's Icon_minitimeThu Aug 28, 2014 3:12 pm

Not far from where I live I can obtain same plants from a collection.
The problem is that there are wrong names and mostly no name.
I need some help to identify the plants.

This is named mam. lindsayi rubiflora, different from the lindsayi in my collection.

Labelling can be a problem, especially with old collections.

Plant #1 - its not M. lindsayi, nor even M. cobrensis as the Lau numbered plant has become, following the rediscovery of the original lindsayi. It looks rather like a form of M. standleyi that I have, but not sure.
Plant #2 - might be meyranii or even guerreronis
Plant #3 - looks to me like M. multidigitata, with those pale flowers and straight spines.

Sorry not to be more certain about 1 & 2.

Thanks Chris for your fast reply.

1. Will be a problem, perhaps when it will flower next year, it can be named.
I knowed that is was not mam. lindsayi.

2. I will go for mam. guerreronis, after reading Pilbeam it seems the more likely.
stem 6.5cm in diameter and 15cm tall, axils with short wool, start to clumping.

3. Certainly mam. multidigitata.
