Yesterday I took a few shots of one of my two 22-year old seed-grown M. senilis. This plant has 17 heads, and it has 13 flowers. In my opinion, this speceis needs as much sunshine as possible in the spring and winter in order to get a reasonable number of flowers. An occasional frost (between 0 and -5 C) is no problem at all.

Wolter, Assen, The Netherlands.

That's lovely Wolter! My large senilis has a few less heads but a few more flowers. But the single headed, white flowered plant with one bud is what I am really waiting for! It'll be its first flower.

This year, my 2 senilis plants had even more flowers than last year (22 and 20 buds). With some proudness I show you the photo of the plant with 22 flowers. I had hoped to be able to take a photo with all flowers open, but, alas, when the last bud opened yesterday, the first flower had just started to fade.

Wolter.

That is a glorious sight! I had 16 flowers this year on my big plant, and 2 on my white flowered plant, which is now just starting its second head. I missed most of the red flowers though as I was away.

Impressive plant Wolter! I once had a multi-headed well flowering clone of M senilis but after a repotting it died.
