<description>The Uk Mammillaria Society is loooking for a supplement to the August 1971 Journal which was described as the most important study on the genus Mammillaria that had been published by the Mammillaria Society up to that point. It included Mr Hunt's proposals for the classification of Mammillaria species. The editorial also says that it was simultaneously published in the journal of the CSSGB.

<description>I have two plants now which have Colomas as the name of the place from where the seed was collected. One is a form of M. bombycina, the other a form of M. pettersonii. M. pettersonii is reported from Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Jalisco, SLP, Aguascalientes and Durango. M. bombycina from Aguascalientes and Jalisco.

I can find a place called Coloma, in Durango, and also a Palomas, which seems to be a very common name.

So if anyone knows where this place is I'd greatly appreciate knowing. ...</description>

<description>This picture was taken at Enpalme near Guaymas, Sonora. Can you notice what is odd with this species? From the data base I have of field data, I gather that this is Mammillaria swinglei but it does not look like the swinglei I have in cultivation. Another candidate would be M. dioica , but this species does not seem to reach this far South.

Well, if you did not notice anything strange, take a closer look at the fruit.

<description>Has anyone more information about M. fertilis (Hildmann)? In Craig's Mammillaria Handbook page 232 is a small description but without type locality.

The description fit very well to the plant I have. Some say that it is a monstrose form of backebergiana, but I can't believe it. It doesn't pop up in any fieldlist, seedlist

or other Mammillaria books. It could be that fertilis has extinct in the wild or not rediscovered yet. Any information would be welcome.

I would like to ask the members here some questions

Which Mamms are easiest to grow from seeds?

Which Mamms are the showiest as in spines, or coloring?

Which have the most vivid flowers and are prettiest?

Which Mamms are the smallest?

Mamms have quickly became some of my favorites and the more I know about them the better .

Thank you

			<description>Hello all,

I'm a new member, thanks to Chris. I'll post an introduction in the intro thread shortly, but you should know I'm in Australia, so it's the middle of winter here now. I'm somwehat surprised that a couple of my tiny 2 year old M. sanchez-mejoradae plants have flowered in the middle of winter. I know M. plumosa as a late autumn/early winter flowerer, but it's never flowered this late into winter.

Does sanchez-mejoradae behave the same in the northern hemisphere ?

Thanks,
