			<description><![CDATA[I line my greenhouse with bubble wrap for the winter. I've just finished doing it, and yet again I am reminded what a boring job this is. It does reduce the light level a bit, at least in winter time, but I wonder what effect it woul dhave on growth and flowering if I left it up all year round.

			<description><![CDATA[I have a number of seeds to sow, and my experience so far is that I get the best growth (germination and size fo seedling at end of the year) from seeds sown in March and April. I grow in 5cm pots, sealed in clear polythene bags, in a heated propagator in daylight and with extra lighting (4 x 25w energy saving lights at about 45cm height above seed pots).

He hopes that the light levels up here on the west coast of Scotland will encourage it to flower. 			<description>One more question tonight.  Our winters are usually pretty cold. Down to 0c or even less especially at night. My house is heated by several space heaters, no central heat. So usually my house is around 18 or 19 c. 

   For Mammilaria is this a good temp to have them in or should I move them to a cooler room for the winter. ? They would continue to get lots of sun where they are now. In the other room lighting would be next to nil.

			<description>I will admit to being anxious to see my seedlings grow up. I have several mammalaria varieties growing right now. The seedlings are about 4 weeks old and some still look like just small green blobs in the soil. So my question is this

At what age might I see a bit of change that lets me know they are coming along alright?  I know different species grow differently none grow at the same rate. But in general.

			<description>All the time I have had plants around my house I have used tap water that has been allowed to sit for several days to let some of the chemicals evaporate out of it. This was for my tropicals along with any succulents I may of had . It seemed to do the trick but eventually always left that kind of whitish chalky look on top of the soil .

			<description>I was able to order 110 packets from this years AfM seedlist. The first batch of 54 packets of seeds were sown on 5th April 2008 using my normal method of standing the 5cm pots of compost in boiling water, sowing the seed on to the surface and then putting to pots into a heated propagator for 3 weeks.

Usually germination will start after 7 days, depending on the species. Out of the the 54 lots sown only 2 failed to germinate, with the rest giving excellent to good germination results. M.tayloriorum  ...</description>

			<description>Today I have been potting up seedlings that were sown on the 28-5-07. The seedlings were later pricked out into the modular cells that I now use. These cells are 1cm x 1cm and the spines of a number of seedlings where starting to touch each other so it was time to move them on. The shot below shows that the roots have filled the whole of the cell. The seedlings are M.bella H.O.267 from the 2007 AfM seedlist.

I am told that the main flower will still open but all the others will dry up and died. This is an old plant and had never done this before.
