I sowed a number of species of seed last year. The first picture shows on eof the seed trays that I use for pricking out. All the seed shown here was sown on the 23rd January 2008.

My surprise was that the Lau 461 form of M. glassii has decided to flower, as shown in the closer-up second photo. There's no sign of flowers on the other Lau 425 form of the species.

Is this a freak event? or are there some forms of glassii that are much quicker to flower than others? It would ...

I normally start sowing seed at the begin of the year in January, but this year the long range weather forecast was looking bad, with low light levels during Jan and Feb.

Has a result I decided to hold off seed sowing until the end of Feb. I also decided to purchase another heated propagator. This will allow me to sow 100 packets a month and has I have 500 packets to sow this will take me up to july, which ...

AfM seedlist 2006...

HP 24/45, these appear to be M.formosa.

List number 457, Speices La purisma. These look very similar to Rog 314, aff picta, from the same list. But they could also be nana/duwei has La purisma is in the state of Queretaro. A state in which picta is not found in.

lolita = barbata

ESP 11/102, priessnitzi, Jalpan, Qro. This is a form of magnimamma but the germinated seedlings are not. They look to be something in the Ancistracanthae, red hooked ...

It occurs to me that I shall have surplus seedlings from my sowings. So what to do with them?

Do others have this problem?

If so, would it be a good idea to list them and see if we could arrange swaps between people. I know postage is a cost, but there are times when we might be able to get around that, for example if people go to ELK.

One of the big issues facing us is the restriction on fresh habitat seeds from Mexico, and this means that we mostly have to rely upon seed producers ...

Here are a couple from 2007 sowing of Mammillaria Society seed, on the left M. canalensis ROG651 and on the right M. sp. Temoris (now temorisensis) ROG653

and one from this year, from left to right, M. glassii ML461, M. erythrosperma ML32, M. glassii siberiensis ML425 and M. pseudohalbingeri TL303
